Welcome to Knock Class

Knock Class is a vibrant Reception and Year 1 mixed class where learning, curiosity, and community are at the heart of everything we do. We feel incredibly fortunate to have recently undergone a classroom transformation, creating an environment that is not only beautiful but also engaging and conducive to a wide range of learning opportunities.

As part of this transformation, we were thrilled to receive a Storytelling Tree. It is a gorgeous centrepiece in our classroom that inspires excitement, imagination, and a deep love of reading. We are a class of keen readers who embrace books enthusiastically, using them as a gateway to explore new ideas, stories, and worlds.

Our children are learning and growing together within a strong community, supported by dedicated and caring teachers. We place great importance on building meaningful relationships and developing deep understanding, ensuring every child feels valued, confident, and inspired.

In Knock Class, children are encouraged and challenged to explore a rich variety of topics, drawing from both the EYFS and KS1 curriculum. Through this broad and balanced approach, they develop key skills, independence, and a love for learning.

Learning in Knock Class extends far beyond the classroom walls. At St Joseph’s, we are incredibly lucky to have extensive outdoor spaces that provide rich opportunities for exploration, investigation, and play. Each day, children engage in purposeful learning within our EYFS playground, taking part in physical activities such as biking, throwing, and climbing, while also developing coordination and confidence.

Our outdoor provision includes a beautiful mud kitchen, imaginative role play areas, and opportunities to bring indoor learning outside through engaging writing and maths activities. Every week, the children also enjoy time in our Forest School area, where they explore, investigate, and take part in a variety of hands-on outdoor experiences. This is often where we bring science to life, making learning practical, meaningful, and memorable. A particular highlight is enjoying a variety of delicious food cooked over the fire. 

Our children are also proud stewards of their environment and community. They enjoy taking responsibility, helping others, and playing their part in making the world around them a better place.

Knock Class is truly a special place which is overflowing with love, care, curiosity, and a joy for learning.
