Nursery - Little Joey's

Developing Children's Communication, Confidence and Creativity.

For our first term we are exploring a topic of 'Monsters'.
We've already made monster tea in the water trays, play-dough monsters and monster cress heads as just a few of our monster play activities.

We are very lucky to have a huge outdoor space, which we share with our reception class.

We have a number of raised beds that the children help to tend.  We've successfully grown peas, strawberries, spring onions, carrots potatoes and herbs in the last year.

There are climbing frames and trees to explore and a large choice of bikes, trikes and scooters all there to help develop children's gross motor skills and just as importantly learn how to be safe, to explore and manage our own risk over time.

We have several covered canopy areas which allow us to be outside whatever the weather, these include a construction zone, a stage with musical instruments, and a quiet area for story telling, painting and drawing.

Whatever the weather we'll be outside, and are able to provide the children with full waterproofs perfect for cooking in the mud kitchen or splashing in puddles, we just ask you to provide wellingtons.

Welcome to Little Joey's.

We currently offer spaces for children from age 3 and Government funded spaces for children from the term following their 3rd Birthday.

Sessions run for 8.45-11.45 Monday to Friday inline with the school calendar

This is our circle area, where we will share and create stories, sing and talk about what we've been up to at home. We will start each day with a very short registration session here, and choose our very special 'Helper of the day'. We will end the session here too, to hear praise and recognition for all the good choices we've made and the learning that has taken place.

This is our home corner. There's lots to do here, from looking after, dressing and feeding the dolls. Cooking dinner, washing the clothes or sharing a picnic with friends. There are cook books to look at as well as paper and pens for noting down all the jobs to do or essential shopping items.

This is just a small snap shot of our creative area. We have sand and water play, a play dough station (where over time we will help you to learn to make your own), junk modelling, collaging and painting. We are here to help you choose your own resources so you can create whatever you decide. We have plenty of aprons to protect your clothes although a spare set is always welcome in your bag in case we carried away!
Whether you want to junk model a dinosaur, collage a jungle, or potato print a picture we are here to support, encourage and develop creativity

Our story corner is a lovely quiet place to look at books, have a chat with a friend or just enjoy a moment to sit and watch what’s going on.

There are a number of puppets to play with, teddies to cuddle and all the tools you need to write your own stories.  Sharing stories is a wonderful way of exploring new vocabulary, rhyme and alliteration all of which for the early stages of phonics and reading.
